American Business Traveller magazine has once again judged airline wines.
The Finnair red wine "Chteau La Pointe 1999", which is served in Business
Class on long-haul flights, was awarded the most points by the judges in the
red wine category. This quality wine comes from the Pomerol region in Bordeaux. The winning wine will be served in Business Class on Finnair
long-haul flights starting in September.
Wines were judged in three categories: red wines, white wines and sparkling
wines. In the tasting held in New York City, the 30 member judging panel
assessed the quality of airline wine cellars for the fifteenth time and tasted over
130 wines.
Finnair wines have won widespread international acclaim several years
running. In 1997 Finnair received the Decanter magazine award for best airline wine list. In 1997, 1999 and 2000 Finnair won the Business Traveller
magazine "Best Cellar in the Sky" award. In 1998 and 2000, Finnair's white
wine was chosen as the best by Business Traveller and last year Finnair served the best
champagne in the world on board its flights.
Finnair's wine-related operations have been handled by Sky Cellar Oy as of
May 1, 2003. Sky Cellar is owned by Altia Oyj and Finnair Catering Oy. |
