Following it's first year of operation, JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa will
double its Spa capacity from five to ten treatment suites.
Additionally, two new outdoor treatment salas will add further capacity from
which the sounds of the nearby ocean will provide natural relaxation, together
with the whisper of a gentle cooling sea breeze.
The Spa is managed by Mandara Spa, the largest operator of tropical garden
spas in hotels and resorts in Southeast Asia. The expansion is planned to
open in July.
"The Spa was a success right from the start, said Jeff Crowe, Resort Director
of Marketing. It wasn't long before it was fully booked from mid afternoon right
through until late evening on a daily basis and often we could not even show
one of the suites to a client on site inspection as they were fully booked. A
resort stay is incomplete without the spa experience these days; in fact
whether or not a property has a spa can often be a deciding factor in choosing
accommodation. A very high percentage of guests use the spa, and make multiple visits during their stay. Many also book their spa treatments prior to
arrival at the same time they book the accommodation," he added.
Overall design including the exquisite landscape is by Bill Bensley of Bensley
Design Studios in Bangkok, with interiors by John Lightbody of Abacus Design, Bangkok. The treatment suites are exquisitely designed in silver and
black, with extensive use of black granite inlaid with mother of pearl. The
design focuses on the exotic beauty of Thai traditional architecture and
artifacts subtly blending with the classic elegance of contemporary design,
evoking a feeling of "spiritual tranquility and harmony" with nature.
Each suite will offer an intimate haven for guests with both indoor and outdoor
areas including a private change area, double showers, a herbal steam room,
deep soak bathtub, and toilet, with lush tropical landscape gardens details
including fountains and water gardens. |
