Mr. Prommin Lertsuridej, Deputy Prime Minister,
today chaired the official launch of
Thai Airways Internationals online auction project (or E-Auction), at the
airlines head office in Bangkok. Present to welcome the Deputy Prime Minister was Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, THAIs President.
To mark the official launch of E-Auction, Mr. Prommin
Lertsuridej was also invited to give comments on the operations E-Auction.
Todays products open for bidding through E-Auction consist of 200 Personal
Computers, worth more than 7 million baht.
Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, THAIs President, said that THAI has continued to
support the governments policy and the 9th National Economic and Social
Development Plan, placing special emphasis on the importance of using Information Technology to create operational transparency and effectiveness
in compliance with the Cabinets resolution. All government functions and
state enterprises were required to implement the online auction (or E-Auction)
on at least one item in year 2002.
As the national carrier, THAI recognises the importance of bidding and
procurement development. The Purchasing Department was assigned to use the E-Auction to acquire 75,000 reams of copier paper, 6,000 boxes of laser
paper form and 60 items of office equipment, totally worth 11 million baht
through Pantavanij Company which is a joint co-operation of six leading companies including Bangkok Bank, Thai Farmers Bank, Siam Cement,
Telecom Asia Company, United Communication Industry and Charoen Pokphand Foods Plc. The Asia Free Will Company has been appointed to set
up the center market for procurement, bidding, and business services on internet. The online auction process is expected to help THAI save up to 1.7
million baht or 15 per cent of the annual cost.
E-Auction will be applied to THAIs purchasing procedures dealing with price
agreement, price checking, bidding, customers registration and online
purchasing. |
