SWISS can profit from a liberal air transport agreement between Switzerland
and Japan and thus reinforce its position in this market. After intensive
negotiations, Switzerland and Japan have agreed on an amendment to the existing air agreement.
SWISS thus attains the objective for which Switzerland has been striving for
years – a daily connection to Tokyo. Until now, only five flights per week from
Switzerland were permitted during the Summer months and six per week
during the Winter months.
The amended air transport agreement comes into force with immediate effect
and replaces the more restrictive previous agreement. SWISS clients will thus
soon be able to benefit from more connections between Zurich and Tokyo. The agreement also means for SWISS considerably better access to the
Japanese market.
In return, Japanese airlines obtain additional landing rights in Switzerland in
Code Share with SWISS or other airlines. |
