Singapore Airlines and Virgin Atlantic launch Manchester codeshare

Travel News Asia 28 July 2003

Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Virgin Atlantic Airways have started an Economy Class codeshare service on all SIA flights between Manchester and Singapore, offering Virgin's customers more convenience and flexibility in their travels to Asia and beyond.

Virgin Atlantic Economy Class passengers will be able to fly non-stop between Singapore and Manchester five times weekly on SIA's B777-200 ER aircraft. Virgin Atlantic and SIA already have a codeshare arrangement on SIA's three daily flights between London and Singapore.

Singapore Airlines Executive Vice President - Marketing and the Regions, Mr. Huang Cheng Eng, said, "We are pleased to be able to further our already strong relationship with Virgin Atlantic by enabling Virgin to offer its customers a choice of flights from both Manchester and London to Singapore."

SIA and Virgin Atlantic already work together to offer each other's frequent flyers greater benefits and more privileges. SIA's KrisFlyer Elite members, Priority Passenger Service (PPS) and Solitaire PPS Club members receive an additional 25 percent in bonus miles when they fly with Virgin Atlantic, regardless of the class of travel.

In addition to using SIA SilverKris Lounges, KrisFlyer Elite and PPS Club members can also enjoy the facilities at Virgin Atlantic's Clubhouse lounges in Hong Kong, New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, and London Heathrow, among other cities.

SIA flies to 54 destinations on five continents using a fleet of 94 widebodied aircraft. Virgin Atlantic flies to 22 destinations using a fleet of 26 widebodied aircraft.
