Emirates SkyCargo
is to start its new services to Moscow’s Domodedova Airport on 1st July, with 15 tonnes of cargo
capacity in wide-bodied A330-200 aircraft, five times a week - Tuesday through
Saturday.
Departing Dubai at 0830 to arrive in Moscow at 1355 and returning to Dubai
at 2310 on the same day means that the new service will connect with flights
on the Emirates’ network, boosting the vibrant trade between the CIS and
the rest of the world.
Peter
Sedgley, General Manager - Cargo Commercial Operations, Emirates Airline said: “We are delighted to launch our services to Moscow. This is
Emirates’ first destination in the heartland of Russia and it represents an
exciting and challenging gateway to the CIS region.”
The ultra-modern Domodedovo Airport, with its state-of-the-art
infrastructure and an equally progressive outlook, matches SkyCargo’s business
philosophy. Dmitry Salichev, Cargo Manager Moscow, Emirates Airline said:
"The airport is ideal for facilitating business and developing trade with the
Emirates hub in Dubai, as both cities have the distinctive ability to serve their
hinterlands effectively.”
SkyCargo expects to enhance trade with not just Russia’s traditional
partners, but also throughout Emirates’ network that spans 66 destinations
in 46 countries.
Russia has for long exported high-end technology and support equipment
to the Indian subcontinent. SkyCargo also expects to airfreight valuable
cargo such as gold, diamonds and the natural wealth of the Russian Federation, and
increasingly, goods based on the country’s emerging manufacturing industry.
Imports into Russia are expected to include goods from around the world
such as pharmaceuticals and other produce from India, and textiles from Indonesia.
“We see ourselves as a catalyst, creating tremendous trading opportunities
throughout our global network,” added Peter Sedgley. |
