Japan Airlines (JAL) and American Airlines (AA) have agreed to expand their
comprehensive code share arrangement to flights on the Tokyo-Los Angeles
and to increase frequency on the Tokyo-Dallas/Fort Worth from April.
On the Tokyo-Los Angeles route JAL will start a new code share flight with
AA's daily one way flights, effectively increasing JAL's own current weekly
total of 16 flights on the route to a total of 30 one way flights per week.
On the Tokyo-Dallas/Fort Worth route where the two carriers already code
share, AA will increase the flight frequency from 22 to 24 per week from April.
From April, the comprehensive JAL/AA code share will extend to a total of 104
international and domestic routes and 1,400 flights per week.
JAL and American started code share flights on May 10, 1999 with 28 routes
and 406 flights per week. The arrangement expanded in 2000 to 78 routes and
1150 flights per week.
The two airlines linked their frequent flier programmes in 1995.
(note: From April 1 through May 8, AA operate 12 one way flights TYO-LAX per
week- i.e. daily except Wednesday) |
