Organisers of the first Singapore pavilion at Global Village, the international
attraction of the Dubai Shopping Festival, are going all out to ensure visitors
get a warm reception to the ‘Lion City’ pavilion.
"Visitors entering the pavilion are welcomed by Singaporeans in traditional
dress," said Sunil Bhatia, Managing Director of E4 Entertainment, which is
organising the pavilion. "From the very first impression, we want to let
visitors know what is in store for them.
"Over and above the impressive pavilion entrance gates and the facades of
the stalls, visitors are impressed by the range of traders dealing in handicrafts and antique items from Singapore."
On sale in the pavilion are perfumes, oudh, artificial flowers, massage
equipment, porcelain, furniture, bamboo gifts, art works, fabrics and household goods.
Traditional dancers and musicians from Singapore are also entertaining
Global Village visitors during the 32-day shopping festival.
Singapore is one of seven new pavilions at the Global Village – the other six representing Cyprus, Libya, Indonesia, Turkey, Kenya and Afghanistan.
"With more pavilions than ever at Global Village 2003, visitors have much
more to see, buy and experience," said Alan Gordon, General Manager, Global Village. "This is in line with our commitment to continually enhance
the attraction."
The Global Village is once again being hosted by Dubai Festival City, a key
sponsor of the Dubai Shopping Festival. The Dubai Festival City development is the signature ‘city-within-a-city’ project being developed on
the banks of the Dubai Creek by the Al-Futtaim Group.
Global Village 2003 is set to be the best ever with improved infrastructure
facilities, 32 pavilions, a bigger fun fair, extended opening hours and an
action-packed entertainment schedule, including international street performers, more restaurants and coffee shops and a new children's play
area.
Global Village 2003 is being jointly produced and managed by DSF and the
Al-Futtaim Group, the owner/developer of Dubai Festival City. |
