Myanmar Tourism Marketing has called for overseas
partners to continue their support and to stand with the people of
Myanmar.
The situation remains uncertain following the
military coup on Monday, but there has been no widespread
violence, nor civil unrest.
Instead, people from all over the country,
including from the hospitality and tourism industry, have been
protesting peacefully and engaging in non-violent civil
disobedience.

south east Asia, yet it's tourism industry is still in its
infancy. In 2017 Myanmar welcomed 3,443,113 visitor

arrivals increased to 4,364,101, of whom, 1,792,353 entered the
country at an international airport and stayed an average of 11
days.
"We have received many messages of concern from
overseas tour operators, travel media and other stakeholders in
the Myanmar tourism industry," said a statement issued on Thursday
by the Myanmar Tourism Marketing. "We ardently hope that our overseas partners
continue to support us in developing a sustainable tourism
industry that holds so much potential for the people of Myanmar. We stand with the Myanmar people in wishing for a
bright, prosperous, and peaceful future."
Myanmar Tourism Marketing’s role is to
promote the country as a sustainable tourism destination, helping
to generate much needed income for the people not only working in
the industry, but the whole country.
