China Airlines to Resume London Flights and Hot Meals on Long-Haul Services

China Airlines has confirmed that it will launch flights to London Heathrow next month and resume serving hot meals on its long-haul services.

The Taiwanese airline had been offering disposable boxed meals to passengers in an attempt to reduce interaction between the cabin crew and travellers. Now, a hot main course will also be served with the boxed meal to provide passengers on long-haul routes with a more enjoyable journey.

London Calling

As China Airlines’ ground services agent at London Gatwick Airport (LGW) has temporarily ceased services, China Airlines is altering the Taipei-London Gatwick route to Taipei-London Heathrow (LHR) from 19 June through to 24 October.

The service will initially be freight-only, however China Airlines plans to operate one passenger flight per week between 3 and 31 July. The weekly passenger flight will depart from Taipei for London Heathrow every Friday, and return from London Heathrow to Taipei every Saturday. Further adjustments to flight services from August onwards will depend on border restrictions and market demand at the time.

Currently all passengers arriving in the UK need to self-quarantine for 14 days.

Network

China Airlines is also increasing the frequency of some passenger flights in July. For regional routes these include Tokyo, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Penang. For long-haul routes these include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Amsterdam and Frankfurt.

The airline has created a dedicated section of its website and mobile app for travelers to check flight information over the next 43 days, confirm that their flight will be available, and plan their itinerary.
