[HD video below]
The Sky Palace Hotel and Flight Cafe in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, is
located on Yaza Thingaha Road, a strip of sprawling
high-rise and villa-style hotels and resorts in the middle of this
city.
In this HD video, which was filmed on 25 January
2015, you can see what a Classic Standard Room
is like, and how that contrasts to the impressive exterior.
The hotel is located within easy walking
distance to the Capital Hypermarket and Junction Shopping Mall
which is extremely useful as there is absolutely nothing else - apart from
other hotels - in the immediate area.
While the rooms themselves are basic, they are
comfortable, and the Wi-Fi,
which is complimentary to all guests, is a lot faster
than what you would get from a 5-star hotel in a major
international city such as Hong Kong or Singapore.
The hotel is also home to Cafe Flight which is
operates as the hotel's restaurant and entertainment area. It
comprises the main restaurant, private dining rooms, and a
meeting/event space with karaoke.
The Fokker F-28 was purchased for K14 million
(roughly US$14,000) after it crashed at Sittwe Airport in Rakhine
State in June 2009, injuring three people. It has been fully
converted, and now operates as a rather unique restaurant and bar.
The Sky Palace Hotel is one of the official
hotels for the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2015 which is taking place in
Nay Pyi Taw this month (22-29 January 2015).
