Thai Airways and some other airlines have waived
their rebooking fees and refund conditions following the
bomb which went off at the Erawan shrine in Bangkok on Monday,
killing over 21 and leaving more than 120 injured, some seriously.
Thai Airways is offering a waiver on its flight
change surcharge until 18 September 2015. The airline will waive
the flight change surcharge for tickets issued by Thai Airways
sales offices in Thailand as well as overseas, as well as tickets
issued online through its website prior to, or on, 17 August 2015
for travel between 18 August to 18 September 2015.
The waiver for flight changes will be allowed
one time only for all routes specified on the passenger ticket,
with the same ticket validity as specified in the original ticket
and/or by 18 September 2015.
Hong Kong Airlines has also waived the rebooking
charges for all tickets issued worldwide (irrespective of fare
type) on/before 18 August 2015 for travel with Hong Kong Airlines
(HX) confirmed booking involving Bangkok between 18 August and 1
September 2015.
Many other airlines have also waived the
rebooking and/or refund charges. However, as each airline's terms and conditions are
different, travellers are advised to contact the airline directly
to see whether their ticket can be changed or refunded without
charge.
