Perth Airport is calling for Expressions of
Interest to select a suitable hotel operator for the first hotel
development on the airport estate.
Perth Airport’s current $1 billion redevelopment
is focused on the first stage of the consolidation of all
commercial air services to the Airport Central precinct near
Terminal 1 and 2, and this provides a prime location for our first
hotel.
Later this year, Virgin Australia will move
their domestic services to a purpose built Pier at the western end
of Terminal 1 next to Terminal 2 which offers regional and some
interstate services. For the first time, passengers will be able
to transfer seamlessly between regional, interstate and
international services in one convenient location.
To meet this shift in services, two development sites
have been identified and are situated between Airport Drive and Horrie
Miller Drive.
“Western Australians are regular users of commercial
aviation including fly-in/fly-out [FIFO] workers, offering a unique
customer base for a hotel development,” said Brad Geatches, Chief Executive Officer Perth Airport.
“We are keen to attract responses from strong performing hotel
operators with demonstrated experience in operating a successful
hotel business. Existing experience in an airport
environment will be highly regarded in the evaluation and
shortlisting process.”
To be
eligible for consideration, proponents must include a proposed
operating solution for a newly constructed hotel, and Perth
Airport will consider a range of flexible options that are
detailed in the Expression of Interest documentation.
“We are ultimately seeking to develop one or more high quality
hotels as part of our overall vision for the future of Perth
Airport, and additional opportunities may exist at a later date to
meet the needs of our customers,” he said.
Expressions of
interest must be received by 17:00 on Friday, 31 July 2015.
