Honeywell Aerospace has signed an agreement with
Hawker Pacific, an aircraft sales and product support
organization, to provide
DU-875 Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) upgrades for the Primus Elite
Flight Deck aboard Embraer Legacy 600 aircraft.
Hawker Pacific’s Singapore facility will be the
first maintenance, repair and overhaul provider in the Asia
Pacific region to perform the installation, which is scheduled to
begin in the second quarter of 2015.
“Working with Honeywell, we are able to deliver
advanced upgrades to current and future Embraer Legacy 600
owners/operators across Asia Pacific,” said Tan Wee Sing, Director
of Sales, Hawker Pacific Asia. “With these high-resolution
displays, our Legacy 600 customers now have the opportunity to
improve their cockpits for today and in the future.”
The
new graphical display capability of Primus Elite improves flight
safety and comfort by providing advanced situational awareness
cues for the pilot including the display of the aircraft symbol on
all geo-referenced charts and maps. These additional graphical
cues significantly reduce the pilot’s scan and data assimilation
time facilitating quicker decisions and smoother transitions to
changing flight profiles due to weather or air traffic control.
The new displays allow operators to use advanced technology
typically available only on newer aircraft, making it available as
a retrofit or forward-fit application. The onscreen navigational,
airport and terminal charts help reduce workload and boost
operational performance. In addition, it does not require cockpit
panel modifications or additional pilot training and involves
limited wiring changes.
“Apart from the numerous benefits
with the Primus Elite DU875, this upgrade will allow AC Aviation
to capitalize on forthcoming technologies and future growth path
such as SVS and ADS-B In,” Stephen Levesque, General Manager, AC
Aviation.
Andy Gill, senior director, Business and General
Aviation, Asia Pacific,
Honeywell Aerospace, added, “Equipping aircraft with advanced technology like
Primus Elite can reduce operators’ acquisition and maintenance
costs while increasing the aircraft value. With this upgraded
system, Hawker Pacific is able to provide upgrades that are more
reliable and weigh less than previous displays.”
The Honeywell Primus Elite Flight Deck
features high-resolution LCD, enables Jeppesen electronic charts
and maps, video playback capability, and optional XM graphical
weather data, which delivers weather coverage
regardless of bad conditions.
The high-resolution graphics
rendered by the display will also be capable of showing Honeywell’s SmartView Synthetic Vision System, which is planned for future
certification.
