The JW Marriott Hotel Shenzhen Bao’an has appointed Nicholas Tse as General Manager.
Mr. Tse’s hospitality career spans more than 22
years of working for Marriott hotels across Asia, including Hong
Kong, Singapore, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
Born in
England, Mr. Tse attended school in the UK and Switzerland, before
training at the prestigious Les Roches International School of
Hotel Management in Crans Montana, Switzerland.
He began his
hospitality career in 1990 as a Front Desk Agent for 2 years and
rejoined in 1995 as a Sales Executive at JW Marriott Hotel Hong
Kong, and became Assistant Director of Sales before moving to
Vietnam to take up the role of Pre-Opening Director of Sales at
Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon, and later Director of
Marketing at Singapore Marriott Hotel.
In July 2003, Mr.
Tse took on the challenge of rebranding the 20-year-old
Renaissance Seoul Hotel as its new Director of Marketing. He
managed the renovation of the hotel lobby and its three food and
beverage outlets, and re-launched the hotel’s market positioning.
After two successful years in the Korean capital, Mr. Tse
transferred across the city to take up the position of Pre-Opening
General Manager at Marriott Executive Apartments Yeouido Park
Centre Seoul. He was later promoted to take on the concurrent
roles of Pre-Opening General Manager and Director of Marketing at
Renaissance Seoul Hotel.
Mr. Tse departed Korea for
Thailand in July 2005, to become Resident Manager at JW Marriott
Bangkok, where he successfully directed the hotel management teams
and outperformed net income targets. These achievements were
recognized with a move to Renaissance Koh Samui & Spa, where he
was Task Force General Manager for the brand’s flagship lifestyle
resort in Thailand. The expertise he demonstrated in hotel
operations, team leadership and elite customer service resulted in
Mr. Tse being handpicked to develop the hotel strategy as
Pre-Opening General Manager of Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok.
Under Mr. Tse’s guidance, the hotel achieved 80% occupancy within
just three months of opening.
A move back to Hong Kong
followed in July, as Mr. Tse was appointed General Manager to turn
around the under-performing Hong Kong SkyCity Marriott Hotel. He
improved service delivery and returned the hotel to profitability,
and in 2011 the hotel achieved its highest RevPAR since opening in
2008.
Four successful years in Hong Kong earned Mr. Tse a
return to Seoul, where he assumed the position of General Manager
at the high-profile JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul. Under his
management, the hotel achieved break-even within eight months and garnered several prestigious accolades, being a winner at the
Korea Ecological Architecture and Environment Awards 2013 and
taking second place at the BIM Green Awards 2013.
Nicholas Tse, said, “I am delighted
