Thai AirAsia X is to launch daily direct flights from
Bangkok (DMK) to New Chitose Airport (CTS) in Sapporo on Japan’s
Hokkaido Island.
The new route will commence on 1 May 2015 and to
celebrate the airline is offering a promotional fare from 3,990 THB
per trip. The special fare is available until 15 February 2015 for travel from 1 May
2015 to 26 March 2016.
The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO)
indicated that in 2014, a total of 657,600 Thai citizens traveled
to Japan, an increase of 45% compared to the previous year.
Divided into types, Group Inclusive Tours (G.I.T) made up 50% of
the figure while Free Independent Travelers (F.I.T) making up the
other 50%.
“This year, we are ready to fully enter the
Japanese market through our new route from Bangkok to Sapporo on
Hokkaido Island, which is a dream destination many have been
waiting for as it is a destination “for all seasons” with
highlights throughout the year. Visitors can see blooming Sakura
flowers in the spring (April-May), witness the lavender fields in
the summer (June-August), watch the trees change color in the fall
(September-November) and enjoy skiing during the winter
(December-February),” said Mr. Nadda Buranasiri, CEO of Thai
AirAsia X.
From 26 March onward, the airline will also be
increasing the frequency of its Bangkok- Tokyo route to 2 times per
day and its Bangkok-Osaka route to daily.
Combined with the Bangkok-Sapporo route, Thai
AirAsia X will fly 4 times daily to Japan, providing over 3,000
seats.
Thai AirAsia X has also joined with
Thai AirAsia to offer Fly-Thru service to passengers from Chiang
Rai, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Phuket and Krabi. Travellers can
reach Sapporo, Japan by connecting through Don Mueang Airport
without the need to check-in twice and with their baggage sent
directly to their final destination.
Travelers from Japan can also
use the Fly-Thru service to connect to provinces of Thailand or
even to other countries such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia,
Myanmar, Singapore and Vietnam.
