Ascott, CapitaLand Hope Foundation (CHF) and iCare Thailand Foundation
have together provided school dormitory furniture
to needy students at Doi Wiengpa Pitaya school in the Chiang Rai province
of Northern Thailand.
84 new bunk beds, sheets, mattresses and
individual storage boxes to store clothing have been donated to
the school.
“Our efforts from the very beginning were to give back to the
community. We are delighted our contributions will help and
support by creating better living conditions for those children in
poverty. The improved dormitories allow boys and girls who live
too far away the opportunity to attend school. More education
could lead these children to a healthier life and a better chance
for a brighter future,” said Mr Jean
Keijdener, Ascott’s Country General Manager for Thailand. “Doi Wiengpa
Pitaya school has around 575 children from kindergarten to junior
high level. Most of them come from low income families and live in
rural areas. 85 students board at the school because their homes
are too far away. The improved facilities will greatly increase
their chance of attaining better educational opportunities.”
Besides the dormitory furniture donation, Ascott’s staff and
iCare Thailand Foundation’s team also visited the Doi Wiengpa
Pitaya school, played games, helped setting up the new beds for
the children and presented some food, boxes of milk and snacks to
all the children.
