Australia’s new private island resort, One&Only Hayman Island, started welcoming guests on Wednesday.

Set in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, One&Only Hayman Island offers elegant resort living in rooms, suites, villas and penthouses nestled amongst expansive pools, lush gardens and two kilometres of pristine white sand.

Accommodation is located in three distinct areas of the resort, each different in style and ambiance, and each designed to take advantage of the breathtaking views of the island and its natural surroundings.

Guests can enjoy a host of unique sporting facilities to discover the island and the Great Barrier Reef – one of the most complex natural ecosystems in the world with over 33,000 species found off the coastline. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the reef and all the wonders around it through special programmes led by One&Only dive experts and marine biologists, as well as hiking and private island exploration.

“We are excited to begin welcoming guests to One&Only Hayman Island, our first resort in the Asia Pacific region,” said Alan Leibman, Chief Executive Officer of Kerzner International,. “The combination of this incredible private island in the Great Barrier Reef, the significant investment of $80 million made by our fantastic partners, Mulpha and our own One&Only team dedicated to providing guests with amazing experiences through our unique brand of service, represents an exciting addition to the luxury Australian travel market. We are confident that the new One&Only experience will bring more Australians and international guests alike to the Great Barrier Reef.”
