According to data from Airports Council
International Asia Pacific, passenger traffic at Asia Pacific
airports increased by 4.2% in February 2014, while the Middle East
sector recorded an 8.4% increase year-on-year.
Year-to-date
results for the first two months of 2014 showed an increase of
7.1% in Asia Pacific, and 9.7% in the Middle East.
Beijing (PEK) was the busiest airport in February 2014, handling
6.3 million passengers, while Chiang Mai (CNX) in Thailand recorded the highest
year-on-year growth of 16.9%.
For air cargo,
Asia Pacific airports recorded 3.4% increase and the Middle
Eastern airports registered a 4.7% increase in February 2014
comparing to same month last year. Year-to-date result was 4.0%
higher for both sectors of the region.
