Thai AirAsia has reported Baht 23,485
million in revenue for this year (up 21% from the same period last
year) and Baht 1,948 million in net profit.
The airline achieved a
load factor of 83%, up 1 percentage point after serving over 10.5
million people, or 26% more than the previous year.
Mr. Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of Asia Aviation
(AAV) Plc. and Thai AirAsia, said that
AAV’s returns, in spite of political turbulence during the end of
the year, still saw satisfactory growth with total revenue of Baht
23,485 million and net profit (owners of the parent) Baht 1,043
million, increased by 25% comparing to the same period last year
due to Thai AirAsia’s expansion.
“Thai AirAsia continued to
operate according to plan during the past year. It acquired
another 8 aircraft for its fleet, bringing the total to 35 by
year’s end and increased flight frequencies on popular routes as
well as opened a total of 6 new routes, which included; Don Mueang
to Khon Kaen, Phitsanulok, Siem Reap (Cambodia) and Kunming
(China) and Krabi to Singapore as well as Chiang Mai to Krabi.
During the latter half of the year the airline also added new
opportunities for service with the City Transfer to Pai (for
flights landing in Chiang Mai) and Sukhothai (for flights landing
in Phitsanulok) as well as Fly Thru service at Don Mueang Airport,
which helped to attract foreign travelers looking to go beyond
Bangkok” said Mr. Tassapon.
In 2013, Thai AirAsia also
focused on the domestic market. The airline achieved a domestic passenger service number of 6.4
million people, reaffirming its leadership in the low-cost carrier market. For the entire year, the airline served 10.5 million
people, exceeding its target.
The company’s service target for 2014 is 13.3
million people or 27% more than in 2013.
