The Hong Kong Rugby Football Union has again teamed up with the Peter
Bennett Foundation and other sponsors to support the “Mission
Possible” campaign at the
Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens
2014 (28-30 March 2014).
“Mission Possible” was launched for the first
time in 2013 with the HKRFU providing a 76-seat corporate box to
the Peter Bennett Foundation who then sought sponsorship, sold
tickets to the box at the Hong Kong Sevens, and gathered materials
for auction on-event to raise funds for four different charities.
With the support of Holiday Inn and Links Concepts,
100% of all funds raised from sponsorship, donations, ticket
purchases and auction proceeds went directly to the four selected charities in 2013, raising nearly HK$3 million, a figure the organisers are hoping to exceed in 2014.
The four
charities selected as this year’s recipients are the Po Leung Kuk
Scholarship Foundation, Society for Community Organization (SOCO),
Crossroads and the Changing Young Lives Foundation.
Mr Trevor Gregory, Chairman of the HKRFU, said, “The HKRFU is delighted to once again
be supporting the Mission Possible campaign. By supporting Mission
Possible, sponsors and patrons are making a great sporting and
entertainment event better: making the Sevens more relevant to the
broader community while helping those less fortunate.”
Supporters of “Mission Possible” include Holiday Inn and
Links Concept who donate the food and beverage for the box over
the weekend as well as corporate donors AIG, CQS, Crosby, Double
Haven and Edrington.
With a Queen of Hearts theme
planned for 2014, the Mission Possible Box will be one of the
places to be inside the Stadium in 2014, with patrons enjoying
what is widely acknowledged as the finest sports weekend in Asia
while also making a positive impact on society.
The box
will also host a group of children from one of the charities for a
special party on Saturday morning of the Sevens from 10.00 am to
12.00, as well as visits from prominent guests including the
Honorable Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, GBS, JP, Chief Secretary for
Administration of the HKSAR, Dr Christine Loh Kung-wai, OBE, JP ,
Under Secretary for the Environment, Allan Zeman GBM, GBS, JP,
championship jockey Douglas Whyte, and members of the Hong Kong
Men’s Sevens team.
