Visitors to Scotland’s biggest ever sporting and
cultural festival can have a personal guide to the games at their
fingertips - thanks to the launch of two mobile apps.
The Glasgow
2014 My Games app provides visitors and spectators with a host of
information for exploring the city, venues and all the sporting
action, while the Glasgow 2014 Results App keeps fans up to date
with all the results and medal tables across the 17 sports. Both
are available for iOS and Android.
With the My Games app,
visitors can:
• see the full schedule for the 11 days,
incorporating all sporting events and Festival 2014 cultural
programme listings • create a personalised games itinerary •
access maps and transport information for key venues • find
listings on shopping, food, drink and cultural venues.
With
the Results App, users can follow the medal journey of their
favourite nations, sports and athletes in real time so they don’t
miss out on their games achievements.
Helpful
notifications from the My Games app will also remind people to
tune in for specific events such as the Opening Ceremony and
sporting finals.
Paul Giblin, Senior Digital Manager for Glasgow
2014, said, “With more than 1 million ticketholders
expected to enjoy the city in the coming days, these new apps are
the perfect opportunity to enjoy the Games on the move, explore
the host city and stay up to date with Scotland’s largest ever
sporting festival.”
The opening ceremony for the Glasgow 2014
Commonwealth Games takes place tonight (Wednesday, 23 July 2014)
with the sport getting underway on Thursday.
