In Thailand, no matter how far off the beaten track you think you
are, chances are that you won't be all that far from a hotel.
Small hotels, sometimes with
just a few rooms, are scattered all over the country, and while
some are quite basic, you can frequently find a little gem that is cheap,
clean, has a nice bed, good shower, reliable internet and either
has a little restaurant where they will cook food for you, or there
will be a restaurant close by.
Remarkably, many of these hotels still do not
have websites, and as they generally charge between 300 and 700
Thai Baht nett per night, inclusive of internet and breakfast, for
many it is simply not a priority.
Narisala Resort in Ban Dok Mai, Roi-Et, Thailand.
The Narisala Resort in Ban Dok Mai, Suwannaphum
District of Roi-Et Province in Thailand is one such example of a
great value little resort.
Located just off Arunprasert Road, the Narisala
Resort is surrounded by rice fields. It features 26 rooms, of
which 20 are standard rooms and 6 are what the resort calls VIP
rooms.
The Narisala also has a cheap same-day laundry
service, and a small restaurant with a shop that sells essentials
such as snacks and drinks etc.
The beds are of surprisingly high quality for a
property of this level, as are the good air conditioning units in
each room, and the Wi-Fi is reliable and of sufficient speed for
most people's needs.
Room rates are THB 550 for the standard
rooms and THB 800 Baht for the VIP rooms. For most, the standard
rooms are more than adequate as apart from the interior design,
there are very few differences between the two room categories.
If you do stay at the Narisala Resort, you
should make a point of eating, at least once, at the small Khrua
Lung Samran
restaurant which is just two hundred metres from the hotel. The
restaurant is run by a family and is open for lunch and dinner.
Because of how very fresh everything is - especially the meat, the restaurant has some
of the very best larb gai baan, tom yum gai baan, and larb ped you
are likely to eat anywhere in Thailand. It is also very reasonably
priced too.
The Narisala Resort does fill up from time to
time, especially during major festivals such as the Rocket
Festival, so reservations - by phone - are advised.

The Narisala Resort is 20 minutes by car away
from Ku Ka Sing which is an almost 1,000-year old Khmer ruin.
Definitely worth a visit if you do stay a night or two at the
Narisala.
