The Cathay Pacific / HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2014 has officially sold out!

21,673 people applied for the 9,000 individual day tickets available through the public ballot, (the great majority requesting the maximum of two full three day tickets each), re-confirming the high demand for tickets to the world-famous Hong Kong Sevens.

Those requests were in addition to the 37,000 three-day tickets previously distributed through local rugby clubs, HKRFU stakeholders and overseas ticketing agents.

The 9,000 individual day passes distributed through the ballot, will bring the Hong Kong Stadium to maximum capacity for this year’s sevens, extending a sold out streak that dates back to the 2003 tournament.

The 21,673 ballot entries received generated 111,457 individual ticket requests for the 9,000 single day event passes on offer.

Extrapolating from the number of applications, the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union (HKRFU) has determined that this demand for tickets, equates to an additional 34,000 full three-day event tickets, over and above the 37,000 three-day tickets and 9,000 single-day tickets distributed, far exceeding the 40,000-seat capacity of the Hong Kong Stadium.

The 9,000 successful entrants drawn in the ballot will be notified by email and will have seven days in which to make their payment (17:00 on 28 January 2014). Ticket distribution will be held from Saturday 15 March 2014 to Monday 17 March 2014, via collection from the Box Office at Hong Kong Stadium. Ticket collection hours are from 10:00 to 17:00 on each day.

With the hosting of 28 international teams, including a direct qualification tournament for a guaranteed spot on the 2014/15 HSBC Sevens World Series, the 2014 Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens promises to be the biggest Hong Kong Sevens ever.
