Northstar Travel Media, a business-to-business
information company serving the travel and meetings industries,
has acquired Mountain Travel Symposium, a conference that attracts
mountain destination travel professionals from all over the world
to North America every spring.
The conference is one of the premier events focusing on
mountain regions globally and the changing trends in marketing,
distribution and technology.
The seven-day event provides travel
industry executives the opportunity to meet one-to-one at targeted
exchange sessions and at various networking functions. Representatives from mountain
resort businesses have gathered at MTS each spring for almost 40
years.
"The addition of Mountain Travel Symposium is an
exciting opportunity for our company," said Thomas Kemp, Chairman
and CEO of Northstar Travel Media. "We have been rapidly growing
our portfolio of high-quality face-to-face events serving the
global travel industry. The addition of MTS, following our recent
acquisition of Asia-based Web in Travel, strengthens our
commitment to serving our core markets with unique and informative
events."
As part of the transaction, Northstar Travel
Media has entered into a management services agreement with
Michael J. Pierson, Inc. to produce the Mountain Travel Symposium
in 2015 and 2016.
Pierson, President of the event management
company, said "Mountain Travel Symposium was just a small event
when it launched. The growth of the event has been extraordinary,
and with Northstar's resources behind us, I'm confident that
growth will continue."
The 2015 event is scheduled in
April at the Fairmont in Whistler. The operations team will report
directly to Alicia Evanko, Vice President of Events for the
Northstar Travel Media Travel Group.
"We're looking
forward to building on the success of this conference," said
Evanko. "This is the one place where the mountain travel
industry's top leaders and innovators meet, and we're thrilled to
be a part of it."
