Etihad Airways has unveiled plans to upgrade
its Singapore-Abu Dhabi flights with the introduction of First
Class from 1 June 2015.
The daily service, using a three-class
Airbus A330-330 aircraft, will offer travellers the added benefit
of a new evening departure from Abu Dhabi and morning arrival in
Singapore, enabling better flight connections to popular business
and leisure destinations such as London, Munich, Paris and Zurich.
Etihad Airways’ President and Chief Executive
Officer James Hogan said, “We have carried more than 340,000 passengers on
the Singapore-Abu Dhabi route since we started flying there in
2007 and it has consistently been a solid performer ever
since. With the delinking of Brisbane from the route, Singapore
will no longer share capacity with Australia and this means more
seats will be available in the local market. This, combined with
the introduction of our superior First Class and retimed flights,
will deliver our strongest and most competitive guest proposition
ever to Singaporean travellers. We also have plans to work with
the tourism board and our industry partners to promote Singapore
as a holiday destination – with a focus on travellers from the
Middle East and Europe.”
The new A330-300 Singapore-Abu Dhabi flights
will offer eight seats in First Class, 32 seats in Business Class
and 191 seats in Economy Class. Guests in the First Class cabin
will be able to enjoy the luxury and comfort of private suites with their
fully flat beds upholstered with Poltrona Frau leather and cuisine
prepared on board from a fully stocked larder of fresh produce by
the airline’s professionally trained chefs.
Etihad Airways commenced three weekly flights to
Singapore on 28 September, 2007 and went daily on 1 February
2013. It currently operates a two-class Airbus A330-200 aircraft
between Singapore and Abu Dhabi with 22 seats in Business Class
and 240 seats in Economy Class.
