Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Tuesday, 7 May 2013

Tiger Airways will launch 7 weekly services to Yogyakarta and Bandung from 1 July and 1 August 2013 respectively.

To celebrate the launch of these new routes, Tiger Airways Singapore, is offering a Sin$10 promotional fare exclusive of taxes and other charges. These promotional fares will be made available for sale from today (7 May 2013) through 13 May 2013, for travel between 1 July 2013 and 29 March 2014. Terms and conditions apply.

Mr Ho Yuen Sang, Managing Director of Tiger Airways Singapore, said, “Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world, and is one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets. Jakarta airport is currently experiencing some air traffic congestion, with more than 40 airlines operating out of its grounds, ferrying over 57 million passengers in 2012 alone. To better facilitate air travel between the two countries, Tiger Airways has decided to bring its services to more second-tier cities. With the addition of these new destinations, we are certainly looking forward to serving the Indonesian market in a bigger way by offering value-for-money fares across our group network of over 50 cities in 13 countries.”

Tourist attractions such as the S.E.A. Aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa and the River Safari, coupled with the growing demand of medical tourism have made Singapore a top destination for Indonesians. Bandung and Yogyakarta have also emerged as popular tourist destinations for Singaporean travellers as a shopping hotspot boasting scenic nature spots, as well as World Heritage Sites such as the Borobudur and Prambana temples.

The new flights will boost the Tiger Group’s existing network, outbound from Singapore to Indonesia from five Indonesian destinations (Denpasar, Medan, Jakarta, Pekanbaru and Surabaya), to seven, including those operated by partner airline Mandala Air.
