From 3 December 2013, Singapore Airlines and
Ethiopian Airlines customers will be able to enjoy seamless travel
to more destinations as a result of an expanded codeshare
agreement between the Star Alliance partners.
Under the agreement, codesharing will be
expanded to Ethiopian Airlines operated flights between Singapore
and Addis Ababa, Ethiopias capital, via Bangkok.
On a reciprocal basis, Ethiopian Airlines will
codeshare on Singapore Airlines operated flights beyond Singapore
to Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney in Australia.
Singapore Airlines will also codeshare on
Ethiopian Airlines-operated intra-Africa flights from Addis Ababa
to Pointe-Noire in the Republic of the Congo, Accra in Ghana,
Mombasa and Nairobi in Kenya, Kigali in Rwanda, Dar es Salaam in
Tanzania and Entebbe in Uganda in the coming weeks, subject to
regulatory approvals.
The airlines have been codesharing since
November 2011 on flights between Addis Ababa and Dubai, and
between Singapore and Dubai. The agreement was expanded in October
2012 to include flights between Addis Ababa and New Delhi, and
between Singapore and New Delhi. Both airlines also expanded
codesharing on flights between Addis Ababa and Bangkok, and
between Singapore and Bangkok in July this year.
