The new winter timetable at Munich Airport is
due to start on Sunday, 27 October 2013 and will remain in effect
until 29 March 2014.
The airlines operating at Bavaria's
international hub have scheduled about 146,000 flights for the
upcoming winter season. Travellers can choose from among 223
destinations, including 189 with scheduled services. Along with the 15 domestic and 127
medium-range routes served this winter, the number of
intercontinental destinations available from Munich has now
reached 47.
One of the most important developments in the
intercontinental segment is Condor's return to Munich after a
six-year absence. The holiday airline is celebrating its comeback
with an attractive program of vacation spots served with Boeing
767-300 long-haul aircraft.
Destinations will include Mauritius,
Santa Clara and Varadero (Cuba), the Mexican resort of Cancun,
Montego Bay (Jamaica), Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), Mombasa
(Kenya), and Goa (India). Lufthansa is adding one weekly flight to Riyadh, and will now fly to that Saudi Arabian city four times a
week.
The low-cost airline Norwegian will add
to the wide range of destinations available from Munich in the
continental segment. It will serve the mainland Spanish cities
Alicante and Malaga as well as the Canary Islands Gran Canaria
and Tenerife with Boeing 737 aircraft.
A new arrival in Munich
is Air Lituanica, which will depart for the Lithuanian capital
of Vilnius three times a week. As of the beginning of December,
Royal Air Maroc will operate three weekly flights to
Casablanca. The Russian carrier S7 Airlines has scheduled four new
weekly services from Munich to Moscow's Domodedovo Airport, and
will now depart three times daily to the Russian capital. At
the end of January 2014, to complement its extensive services
to the major Atatürk airport in Istanbul, Turkish Airlines will
launch a daily service to the smaller Istanbul-Sabiha Gökçen
airport situated to the south-west of the city.
