After an initial pre-sale period to Hong
Kong Rugby clubs and stakeholders, the Hong Kong Rugby Football
Union (HKRFU) has confirmed that 3,000 tickets to the Cathay
Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2013 are now available for sale via
public ballot.
Registration for the ballot will be open for one
month.
Tthe HKRFU
expects that after the completion of the pre-sales period to clubs
and stakeholders and the public ballot, 92% of event tickets will
have been retailed in Hong Kong, with a further 6%
reserved for overseas ticketing agents and 2% reserved
for the participating teams.
To ensure the most
equitable and widespread distribution of the remaining tickets the
HKRFU is allowing ballot participants the opportunity to apply to
purchase tickets on a per-day basis, (attending on their choice of
the Friday, Saturday or Sunday), creating up to 9,000
opportunities for those participating in the public ballot, to
secure access to tickets. Ballot applicants can also apply to
attend all three days of the event.
Mr
Trevor
Gregory, Chairman of the HKRFU said, “The HKRFU is pleased to
confirm that the public sale for tickets to the 2014 Cathay
Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens will again be held via public
ballot. Last year’s process was felt to offer the most convenient
and equitable manner for the public and the ballot was well
received by the local community. With the
increasing growth in numbers in Hong Kong Rugby and demand far
outstripping the capacity of our present stadium, an increased
allocation of tickets has again been provided to members of local
rugby clubs and HKRFU stakeholders, with an accompanying reduction
in the number of tickets for the public sale. By
making the remaining tickets for the public available for purchase
on a daily basis the HKRFU has trebled the opportunities to gain
access to the event with 9,000 daily tickets being allocated for
the public through the ballot.”
Each applicant is allowed only one entry per person per event day
in the ballot. Each successful applicant can purchase a maximum of
two tickets per day. Application may be made for a variety of
ticket categories including one adult ticket, two adult tickets or
one adult and one child ticket. Entrants must be Hong Kong
Identification cardholders and 18 years or over.
Once registration is complete, a distinct and separate ballot will
be held for each day of the tournament. Ballot applicants may be
successful across multiple entries.
Registration
is now open and will close
at 17:00 on Wednesday, 15 January 2014.
Applicants can register for the public ballot
via the official Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens website.
The ballot will be
held on Tuesday, 21 January 2014, with winners notified
electronically on the same day.
Collection of tickets will be from
15 – 17 March 2014 at the Hong Kong Stadium Box Office.
Successful applicants will receive notification by 17:00 on
21 January and will then have one week to pay for their tickets
(by 17:00 on 28 January).
Ticket prices for the
individual day categories are set at HK$200 for adult tickets and
HK$50 for children’s tickets for Friday and HK$650 for adults and
HK$50 for children’s tickets respectively for Saturday and Sunday
of the event. Each successful ticket application will be levied
with an administration fee of HK$50.
All
interested spectators are reminded that only tickets sold through
the official ticketing agencies for the event or through the Hong
Kong Rugby Football Union member Clubs and public ballot are
ensured to be genuine. Those purchasing tickets from non-official
channels should be aware that doing so leaves them at risk.
The 2014
Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens will be held
from March 28th to 30th at the Hong Kong Stadium.
