Thai Airways International will upgrade its
reservation and ticketing system between 1630 hours Bangkok time
(0930 hours GMT) on Saturday, 12 October 2013 and 0500 hours
Bangkok time (Saturday, 12 October 2200 hours GMT) on Sunday, 13
October 2013.
During the upgrade and platform changeover, there
will be a suspension of THAI reservation and ticketing services
and Royal Orchid Plus redemption services.
Thai Airways will change the
current reservation, inventory control and ticketing system to the
Amadeus Altéa platform which is used by most Star Alliance carriers as well as
other major airlines.
The platform consists of four core components:
reservation, ticketing, inventory control, and departure control,
and was designed to allow these four core components to be
able to share passenger travel information and requirements which improve processing time and
other customer services at
each point of travel.
The Amadeus Altéa platform can also
be further developed and expanded on an ongoing basis for
additional service features that can improve the airline’s
competitiveness, as well as joint IT development with other
alliance carriers.
During this period, THAI’s
reservation and ticketing services will be temporarily
unavailable, including Royal Orchid Plus redemption services as
the upgrade will require synchronization of customer information.
However, passenger check-in at the airport, mobile and internet
check-in services during this period remain available.
THAI ticket offices in Thailand will close from 15:00 hours
(local time) on Saturday, 12 October 2013 and return to normal
operational hours the following day.
