Etihad Airways has appointed Philip Lewin as
General Manager for Germany, effective 10 April 2012.
Mr Lewin has almost twenty years’
experience working in the airline industry, and joins the UAE flag
carrier from American Airlines, where he has recently held the
position of Country Manager India.
“Etihad Airways’ operations in Germany are
crucial to our network strategy,” said Etihad Airways President
and Chief Executive Officer, James Hogan. “We have
invested heavily in the German market and now operate 25 flights a
week from three German hubs to Abu Dhabi, and onwards to more than
70 destinations throughout Africa, the Far East, Australasia and
the Subcontinent. Following our recent strategic
partnership with airberlin, improved connectivity over Abu Dhabi,
and new route launches, we look forward to Philip taking up his
strategically important role. He will be
instrumental in achieving continued success in the months and
years ahead.”
Since
2004 Etihad Airways has carried more than 1.8 million passengers
on its German routes. The airline inaugurated flights to Munich in
2004, Frankfurt in 2006 and Düsseldorf in 2011. Etihad Airways now
operates 25 flights a week to and from Germany. This will increase
to 28 flights per week from 15 April 2012, with Frankfurt operating twice a
day.
Etihad Airways also has its own dedicated
first and business class lounges at Frankfurt International
Airport.
