Ayu, a small fish native to many rivers, lakes
and coastal waters of Japan, is celebrated as being one of the
tastiest of all river fish, especially when skewered and grilled
over a fire.
As it has a distinctive sweet flavor with aromas of
melon and cucumber, Ayu is known as sweet fish and remains a
favorite in Japanese cuisine.
To many Japanese gourmands, the word Ayu
conjures up images of summer, the countryside, and sweet aroma.
Now the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok is preparing
to celebrate the fish with an Ayu promotion.
Chef Sawada at Shintaro
has prepared a special a
la carte menu featuring Ayu. The menu will be available from
Tuesday, 3 July until Monday, 16 July 2012 for lunch and dinner. Prices
range from THB 520 to THB 980.
Menu highlights include Ayu Shioyaki (Grilled Sweet Fish with
Sea Salt, Served with Date Vinegar Dip), Ayu No Arai (Ice Shocked
Slice Sweet Fish Sashimi Served with Mustard Miso, Plum Sauce),
Ayu Kabayaki Don (Grilled Sweet Fish with Soy Sauce, Arima Pepper
Corn on Steam Rice Served with Clear Soup) and many other
delectable dishes.
Advanced reservations are recommended.
