Hong Kong recorded a total of 3,638,934 visitor
arrivals in May 2012, 12.7% more than in the same month last year.
Cumulative arrivals from January to May 2012
increased by 14.8% year-on-year to reach 18,701,842, with growth
achieved across the Mainland, short-haul and long-haul market
regions.
Overnight Visitor Arrivals
This May,
overnight arrivals and same-day, in-town arrivals accounted for
48.5% and 51.5% of the total arrivals to Hong Kong respectively.
Overnight arrivals rose by 2.5% year-on-year to exceed 1.76
million.
Of all market regions, North Asia registered the greatest
increase in overnight arrivals, with the figure rising by 4.3% to
over 110,000 visitors, accounting for 63.9% of overall arrivals
from North Asia.
Total same-day arrivals from all markets grew by
24.2% to over 1.87 million.
