Best Western is to substantially increase its
portfolio of hotels in Malaysia.
Best Western already operates
three hotels in Malaysia – Best Western Kinabalu Daya, Best
Western Sandakan Hotel & Residence and Best Western Marina Island
Resort Pangkor – but starting this year the company will embark on
a major nationwide growth strategy.
In 2012 the
company will add two more hotels to its Malaysian collection, with
the landmark Best Western Premier Dua Sentral in Kuala Lumpur Sentral and Best Western Wana Riverside Hotel, Melaka.
A further six properties will then join between 2013 and 2015,
taking the group’s total portfolio in Malaysia to 11 hotels, but
developments in the pipeline could realize 15 properties by 2015.
“Malaysia welcomed 24.7 million visitors in 2011
and is targeting a remarkable 36 million annual arrivals by 2020.
With excellent air connections, especially via low-cost carriers,
a strong economy and a diverse range of visitor attractions - from
idyllic beaches to high-tech cities – the future of Malaysian
tourism looks incredibly bright,” said Glenn de Souza, Best
Western International’s Vice President International Operations –
Asia & the Middle East. “We hope to be able to help cater for a
new wave of business and leisure tourists attracted to this
blossoming destination.”
The first new addition to
Best Western’s Malaysian collection will be the Best Western
Premier Dua Sentral – a 364-room property in the heart of
Kuala Lumpur’s new business and transport hub, KL Sentral. Opening
its doors in Q2 2012, Best Western Premier Dua Sentral will offer
contemporary rooms ranging from 34 to 183m², each including free
Wi-Fi, LCD interactive TVs, DVD players and iPod docking stations.
Guests will be treated to an array of culinary
experiences, including the Kembali Kitchen which will serve
traditional Malaysian and international dishes, Hugo’s on 6, a
fusion restaurant combining Mediterranean and Oriental flavours,
and Grill 582, which will offer the steaks and
seafood.
Business travellers and groups will be catered
to with eight function rooms able to host from 12 to 140
delegates, while those wanting a more relaxing experience can
unwind in the infinity-edged swimming pool and Best Western’s
signature Bhuvana Spa Luxe.
Then
from next year, Best Western’s Malaysian expansion will gather
pace. New properties will rise in key business and leisure hubs such as Melaka, Ipoh, Klang, Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, and a
second Best Western hotel will also be developed in Kuala Lumpur.
In total, Best Western International will operate 15 properties in
Malaysia by Q1 2015, offering more than 1,700 rooms across nine
unique destinations.
