For 36 years, some of the worlds premier international rugby sevens teams have been coming to Hong Kong to give a masterclass in sevens and 2012 will be no different.

Before the main event kicks off however, the boot will be on the other foot, as several of the 24 participating teams go back to school in Hong Kong.

Taking rugby into the community is a huge part of the Hong Kong Rugby Football Unions build-up to the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens and this year is no different, as teams use the opportunity to meet and entertain their hordes of fans in Hong Kong as well as hone their own skills for the weekend.

Throughout the week of the Hong Kong Sevens, it is not unusual to see these premier teams take time out from their busy training schedules to help grow the game in Hong Kong. Among the many activities being held in Hong Kong during the event week are:

- Hong Kong University/Sandy Bay Mini Rugby Club will be the excited hosts of the England team for a training session, whilst Russia, with ex-England star Henry Paul as their coach, will also head to Sandy Bay as well as to the Hong Kong Football Club.

- Secondary schools, King George V and Diocesan Boys School, will entertain Scotland in their last week of the school term. Other teams will be home-schooling next week as Canada will head to the Canadian International School, Australia will drop by at the Australian International School and Hong Kong International School will play host to the US team.

- Operation Breakthrough, the charity set up by the Hong Kong Police for at-risk youngsters in Hong Kong also continues its tradition of involving international teams and stars in its extensive rugby programme, as Scotland and Argentina showcase their skills and knowledge for at-risk youth in the wider community.

- Fiji will visit the La Salle College in Kowloon, whilst France takes to the south side of the Island to spend time with the students from Singapore International School.

- Hosts Hong Kong work within the schools and club community on a year-round basis, regularly appearing at local mini and youth tournaments as well as heading up local community projects.
