"Airlines operate in a dynamic and complex
business environment, facing a variety of risk factors, including
entirely unpredictable events. As a result, the industry has
well-developed risk management skills, whether responding to
natural disasters, health pandemics or other unforeseen
occurrences that have a wider impact on flight operations. There
are significant benefits in taking a more holistic approach to
risk management, in order to strengthen the resilience of the
industry to respond to and overcome business and operational
challenges," Mr. Herdman added.
The Willis IATA AAPA Asia Pacific Aviation
Insurance Conference held 7-8 March 2012 in Hong Kong attracted
over 300 participants, including aviation safety and risk
management specialists, aviation insurance underwriters and
brokers, legal experts and other professionals.
The conference addressed a wide range of
aviation risk management and insurance topics, including safety
management systems and sharing of industry best practices.
