Mr. Steffen Harbarth has been officially
introduced as the new Vice President for Lufthansa in Asia
Pacific. He will direct the airline’s regional
headquarter based in Singapore.
In this new role, Mr. Harbarth
manages and directs the sales, marketing and airport operations
for Lufthansa Asia Pacific. He reports to Mr. Jens Bischof, member
of the Lufthansa German Airlines Board, Sales and Revenue
Management.
Mr. Harbarth succeeds Mr. Uwe Mueller
who has taken over the position of Head of Sales for Lufthansa’s
largest markets in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Mr.
Mueller managed the airline’s sustainable growth in the region
since 2003 playing a critical role in establishing Lufthansa as
one of the leading European airlines in the Asia Pacific region.
“We remain committed to this region
which has emerged as the largest and most dynamic market for our
industry worldwide. We intend to continue our successful growth in
the Asia Pacific. We will continue to invest in new services,
products and innovations tailored for our Asian customers. We will
introduce more flights, larger aircraft and new destinations for
our customers in the Asia-Pacific markets, and we will also
strengthen all our aviation business segments MRO, airfreight,
catering and IT in the region,” said Mr. Harbarth. “The latest decision of the board of Lufthansa Technik to
invest US$30million in a new hangar project in the Philippines
will not only create another 400 high skilled Lufthansa jobs in
the region but it will furthermore strengthen the position of the
whole Lufthansa airline group in the region.”
Mr. Harbarth began his career at
Lufthansa in 1996, working initially in Pricing Policy and then in
Sales Development. In 1999, he moved to Paris as Head of Sales and
Support Marketing for Western and Southern Europe. Two years
later, he transferred to Zurich, where he was responsible for
Lufthansa-sales in the Swiss market. In 2005, he returned to
Frankfurt as Head of Yield Management and subsequently of Revenue
Management for the long-haul markets. Most recently, he held the
position of Head of Hub Development and Capacity Management at
Lufthansa’s hub in Munich, Germany.
Mr. Harbarth
graduated from the University of Applied Sciences in Munich with a
Diploma in Business Management. He is married and has two
daughters.
