Philippine Airlines is back on line having
deployed two US-bound flights, three regional and two domestic
flights on Tuesday, with many more on Wednesday.
The flight deployment came hours after striking
members of the PAL Employees Association (PALEA) vacated their
posts, thereby allowing PAL volunteers to take over their
functions.
A composite team from PAL security, airport
services, police and aviation security and the Manila
International Airport Authority (MIAA) was able to successfully
persuade striking PALEA workers to yield control of PAL’s check in
terminals, cargo, catering and ramp areas.
“We thank our passengers for their patience and
understanding and for bearing with us during this difficult time.
Rest assured that PAL will do everything to ensure that all our
passengers will reach their destination safely,” said PAL
spokesperson, Cielo Villaluna.
Villaluna explained it will take some time for
PAL’s operations to fully normalize but the airline is determined
to get back on its feet and move forward. Concerned passengers
should contact the airline or their travel agent for the latest
information regarding flights.
