The JIA Shanghai on Nanjing West Road has moved
its lobby and residents’ lounge to the third floor.
The new lobby
is designed to offer a more exclusive, private and refined space
away from the busy street level.
Taking the
elevator and arriving at the new lobby of JIA – which means “home”
in Mandarin – feels like stepping into a
living room. Continuing the welcoming residential theme, JIA’s
signature residents’ lounge that dominates the lobby serves
complimentary soft beverages round the clock, espressos, premium
teas as well as snacks, afternoon cakes and evening wines.
High-speed Wi-Fi and a selection of international magazines
are available for surfing and browsing, accompanied by a
collection of board games and an ambient soundtrack compiled by
JIA’s music stylist.
The new third floor recreates the
original lobby’s ‘Eclectic China’ design with art installations
and unique furniture pieces that were custom crafted for JIA
Shanghai by Hong Kong ‘interior designer to the stars’, André Fu.
Regular residents will recognise Fu’s ‘Cascade’
installation of haute heritage birdcages suspended above a black
lacquer sculpture still present in the entrance Lobby. The
lounge’s seductive lighting, washed oak flooring, dark brown walls
carved to resemble bamboo, richly embroidered fabrics,
bamboo-inspired stools and deep sofas add to the invitingly
private-residential ambience.
The previous ground
floor lobby space will be transformed into high-end fashion
boutiques.
“I am delighted that in
the 4 years since it first opened, JIA Shanghai has won a place in
the hearts of our guests and the public with its unique
residential-style facilities and services which have given it a
point of difference. But we are constantly looking to improve and
the new Lobby now offers even greater privacy and comfort – themes
which are at the heart of all our properties. You may be in the
bustle of Shanghai central, but JIA’s new Lobby and residents’
lounge is an escape from all that – like your own private
sanctuary in the middle of this busy city,” says Yenn Wong,
Founder and owner of JIA.
