The Langham Xintiandi will officially launch its
new Chuan Spa on 18 October, 2011.
The spa will incorporate Traditional Chinese
Medicine into its signature treatments. Traditional Chinese Medicine is
acclaimed throughout the world for its ability to harmonise the
body and soul and enrich personal happiness and fulfillment. The
philosophy uses the principle of the balance of the five natural
elements of metal, wood, water, fire and earth and the body’s
opposing yet mutually dependent halves – Ying and Yang.
Emphasising a holistic approach, the therapists at Chuan Spa will
adopt the guiding principles behind TCM, using energy flows, basic elemental forces and the influence of hot and cold to create
individual treatment plans.
The Langham
Xintiandi’s Chuan Spa will comprise of
10 treatment rooms for both men and women where guests can indulge
in signature facial and massage treatments using the world
renowned Thalgo skincare range in addition to Chuan’s own range of skincare products.
First, guests are invited to embark on a
Tri-bathing water journey by relaxing in the Jacuzzi, sauna and
steam room. Then they will enter Chuan Spa’s moon gates where they
will experience a Chinese garden inspired ambience designed to
nurture one’s Jing (life force), Qi (vital energy) and Shen (mind
and spirit).
In the contemplation corner, while sipping Chuan
element tea, guests will meet with their therapist to discuss
their treatment plan and also complete a Five Elements
questionnaire which is designed to address the rebalancing of
their five elements and personal Ying and Yang. Following
completion, guests will then be escorted to the spa treatment
area.
Guests can choose from a
range of pampering spa treatments including the signature Chuan Yu
facial. The 1 hour 15 minutes facial uses numerous jade stones to
stimulate and massage facial acupoints and a movement similar to
gua sha to relax the whole body while improving facial tone, blood
circulation and eliminate toxins.
