Carlson Hotels has joined the Strategic
Corporate Alliance program at the Cornell University School of
Hotel Administration (SHA).
Through the partnership, Carlson
Hotels will become a senior partner of the Center for Hospitality
Research (CHR) and will sponsor The Face of Hospitality
Leadership, a study that will investigate career paths within the
hospitality industry, with a focus on women leaders.
Carlson will
also be an industry fellow of the Center for Real Estate and
Finance and a senior member of the Pillsbury Institute for Hospitality Entrepreneurship.
"It is an honor to welcome
Carlson Hotels to our Strategic Corporate Alliance program," said
Joe Strodel, Jr., director of communications and corporate
affairs, SHA. "Radisson, a Carlson brand, had been a key partner
of our Center for Hospitality Research, so we are excited to
broaden this relationship with one of the leading global companies
in hospitality and travel and create new knowledge to power the industry forward."
Carlson's strategic alliance also
includes sponsorship of the Cornell Icon and Innovator Awards
Dinner, a gala event that honors industry leaders and serves as a
fundraiser for the school's scholarships and programs, and Hotel
Ezra Cornell, a student-run hospitality conference held at SHA.
"By partnering with the School of Hotel Administration, we are
able to support research, education, and events that will not only
benefit Carlson but also the global hospitality industry," said
Nancy Johnson, executive vice president, Carlson Hotels. "Through
the results of this alliance, we'll be able to better serve our
guests, employees, shareholders, our partners, and the industry."
