Arriving at the top of the exhibition world in
Asia with the most fully integrated convention facility is high on
the agenda for Bangkok Land who has committed to spend Bt 3.1
billion on the complex within the next 12 months.
An additional 50,000 sqm of convention space –
Impact Convention Center will be complete by July 2012.
Mr Paul Kanjanapas, Managing Director of Impact
Exhibition Management Company, said, “Bangkok Land has committed to
this major investment due to the increased number of bookings
being received particularly in the meetings, weddings and
exhibition sectors. Even though work is still underway at Impact
Convention Center, we are fast tracking the building of meeting
rooms and as soon as each is finished they are immediately made
available - such is the demand. For example weddings have
increased by almost 30% and we are now experiencing 30/40 events
at the same time which augurs very well for business in the
future.”
Impact Convention Center will
consist of grand foyers of 7,000 sqm, 2 large Ballrooms. One of
the ballrooms can accommodate 25,000 for a cocktail event and the
second can accommodate 8,000 seated guests.
There will be three
fully equipped Auditoriums, a multi-purpose Exhibition Hall of
5,000 sqm; large function rooms, as an example three 500 sqm
connecting to make a 1,500 sqm facility with a total of an
additional 54 meeting rooms in all, Business Centers, VIP Rooms, Press Center, Kids Corner, Prayer Room, Organizer Offices, First
Aid Room and Luggage Deposit Room.
Given the increased volume of visitors 4,000 indoor car parking areas are
also being completed.
Ease of connectivity between all venues is also underway with
Skybridges being built for ease of all exhibitors, and visitors.
The BOI Fair 2011, later in the year, which will take up most
areas of Impact will have a 200 metre automatic walkway extended
to the Big Lake.
“Our fist hotel on the site,
Novotel
Bangkok Impact has far surpassed our expectations even though many
hotels in the city are unable to break even. We have already
committed to build a larger 640+ room 3-star Ibis hotel which will
be up and running late 2012 giving a total of 1000 rooms available
to support Impact held events and other activities around the
area” Khun Paul said.
