Korean Airs second
Airbus A380 aircraft is
being prepared to commence operations between Seoul and New York.
Starting from 9 August 2011, Korean Air will
operate three flights a week on the Seoul/Incheon - New York
route, and then will increase the frequency to 7 flights a week in
September.
In August, operating every Tuesday, Thursday and
Saturday, the flight will depart Seoul/Incheon at 11:00 and arrive
in New York at 11:55 the same day.
The return flight will depart
New York at 14:00 and return to Seoul/Incheon at 17:20 the
following day.
The schedule for September onwards has yet to be
confirmed.
Korean Airs second A380 is configured in a three-class layout with just 407
seats in total, the lowest configuration of any A380 operator so
far.
Korean Airs double-decker A380s feature 12 First Class Kosmo Suites and
301 Economy Class seats on the main lower deck, and 94 fully lie-flat Prestige Sleeper seats in Prestige Class (business class)
on the upper deck.
The A380s also boast inflight
facilities such as the worlds first Duty Free Showcase and a
new onboard bar and lounge area.
Korean Air has ordered ten A380 aircraft; three of which
will be delivered by the end of 2011 and the remaining five by
2014.
The airline will gradually expand its A380 service to major
destinations in Europe and North America, such as Paris and Los
Angeles by the end of this year.
