The Park Hotel Group has adopted World Vision
International as its official supported charity.
World Vision International is a relief,
development and advocacy organisation dedicated to working with
children and communities worldwide by tackling the causes of
poverty and injustice.
Extending its work to approximately 100 million
people in nearly 100 countries, World Vision builds thriving
communities to lift children and their families out of poverty,
coupled with a range of interventions to address immediate needs
like food, water and shelter when disaster strikes.
With Park Hotel Group’s properties in Singapore,
China, Japan and Hong Kong participating in this meaningful cause,
the group strives to raise up to Sin$500,000 to support World
Vision’s initiatives.
In particular, room guests are provided with a
platform to showcase their generosity with a donation of Sin$2 /
RMB10 / JPY100/ HK$10 for every room booking.
All the funds raised will support the forgotten
and less privileged in communities under the care of World Vision
International.
Specifically, over Sin$100,000 of the funds will go
towards the construction of a three-storey Girl’s Dormitory in the
precinct of Yong Sheng in Yunnan, China. An highly impoverished
area, more than 50% of the population in the Yong Sheng Area
Development Programme (ADP) lack adequate food and clothing for
survival, accentuated by poor healthcare amongst children, a
shortage of healthcare facilities and personnel as well as a badly
damaged ecosystem. Although there is only one primary school, most
children between the ages of six and 12 do not receive education
as parents cannot afford the school fees - each day is a struggle
simply to feed the family.
“Extending 50 years of loving
hospitality, care and embrace across boundaries to reach out to
the less fortunate in countries we operate in, Park Hotel Group’s
first group-wide fundraising campaign gives a special meaning to
our 50th Anniversary celebrations,” said Mr Mohd K Rafin,
Senior Vice President of Park Hotel Group. “We look forward to
coming together as a socially responsible group to garner
donations, to make a difference in the lives of the disadvantaged
and to witness a positive transformation in the well-being of
communities.”
