Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts has expanded its
portfolio of hotels in China with the signing of the Swissôtel
Chengdu in Sichuan province.
With hotels already operating successfully in
Shanghai, Beijing, Foshan and Kunshan, the Swissôtel Chengdu will
be the fifth hotel in China for the international hotel chain of
Swiss origin, and its first hotel in the west of the People’s
Republic.
Swissôtel Chengdu will offer 380 rooms each
around 42 m2 in size, four restaurants and bars, 10 conference
rooms covering some 1500 m2 providing a venue for all types of
events and a Pürovel Spa & Sport, extending over 1000 m2.
“We are delighted to have signed the
management contract with the Chengdu Senyu Industrial Group,” said Meinhard Huck, President Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts, “a
professional partner for a high-quality hotel project in western
China’s financial centre. The phenomenal growth of the Chinese
market means China is becoming increasingly important for us – the
hotel is due to open at the end of 2014.”
The
forthcoming deluxe hotel is located in the south of Chengdu in
Tianfu New Town, an urban development project which will focus
primarily on the finance and technology sectors and international
business. The district, once finished, is expected to attract
around 1.4 million workers and 1.7 million inhabitants. Tianfu New
Town covers an area of 205 km2 and is already home to 40
multinational firms and 820 companies financed with foreign
capital.
The area around the Swissôtel is crisscrossed with
waterways and boasts elegant shops, restaurants, parks,
residential accommodation, and an high-tech park, which attracts a
large number of business travellers. The largest local venue for
wedding receptions is also in the immediate vicinity of the hotel.
Business travellers can reach the centre of Chengdu in 20 minutes,
and Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is 10 km away.
