Cathay Pacific has appointed Mr CK Yeung as
General Manager Corporate Communication. He succeeds Mr Dane
Cheng in the role following the latters move to Sydney to take up
the position of General Manager Southwest Pacific.
In his new position, Mr Yeung has overall
responsibility for all public and media relations, public affairs
and general communication issues for Cathay Pacific globally. He
also oversees the companys main corporate social responsibility
programmes.
Prior to taking up his current position, Mr
Yeung was Director of University Development and Public Affairs at
the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, engaged in
activities covering publicity, publications, marketing, media
relations and strategic communication. He joined HKUST in May
2006.
Mr Yeung began his career as a TV journalist in 1979.
In subsequent years, he took up a variety of communications roles
within the Hong Kong Government and other major public bodies in
the city.
Among his more senior appointments, Mr Yeung
worked as Senior Public Affairs Manager, West Rail Project, for
the Kowloon Canton Railway Corporation from 1996 to 2002. From
2002 to 2004 he worked for the Hong Kong Trade Development
Council, based in Sydney, taking charge of its marketing and
promotion activities as Director for Australia and New Zealand.
From April 2004 to May 2006 he worked as Head of External
Relations for the Hong Kong Jockey Club, with responsibility for
spearheading the clubs external relations efforts.
Mr
Yeung graduated as a Bachelor of Social Sciences from the
University of Hong Kong and took his M. Phil in Communication from
the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is married with two
children.
