Visitor arrivals to Singapore registered 8.4%
growth in November 2009 to reach 830,000 in November 2009. Visitor
days were estimated at 3.1 million days in November 2008, a
year-on-year growth of 0.7%.
Indonesia (143,000), P.R. China (90,000),
Malaysia (83,000), Australia (69,000), and India (50,000) were
Singapores top five visitor-generating markets in November 2009.
These markets accounted for 52% of total visitor arrivals for the
month.
In November 2009, Malaysia (+36.8%) and
Indonesia (+19.6%) registered double digit growth, attributable to
the shift of Hari Raya Haji holiday weekend. Germany (+21.7%), P.R.
China (+14.2%), Australia (+13.8%) and Vietnam (+12.4%) all saw
growth for November 2009 due in part to initiatives and promotions
under the 2009 Reasons to enjoy Singapore campaign.
Gazetted hotel room revenue was estimated at
Sin$148 million, representing a decrease of 9.8% compared to a year
ago. Average Occupancy Rate was at 84.3% for November 2009,
a 3.8 percentage point increase over November 2008.
Average Room Rate for November 2009 was
estimated at Sin$198, a decline of 15.1% over
November 2008. Revenue Per Available Room
decreased 11% to reach Sin$167 in November 2009.
Hotel room revenue was estimated to reach Sin$148 million in
November 2009, a drop of 9.8% against November 2008. AOR for all except the Economy tier saw growth, with AOR for
the Mid-tier reaching 88.9%, registering the largest growth
(+5.2 percentage points) compared to November 2008.
The
ARR of the Luxury tier was $347 in November 2009, recording the
smallest decline (-10.2%) compared to November 2008.
Hotels in the Luxury tier saw the smallest decline (-6.0%) in RevPAR in November 2009 to reach $279.
