Best Western International has signed its fifth property in Bangladesh, a new hotel being built in the countrys third largest city of Khulna.

Currently in the development stage, the luxury 150-room Silver Hotel is scheduled to open in 2013. It is the latest step in Best Westerns expansion plans for Bangladesh, which comes at a key stage in the countrys tourism development.

Best Western sees a tremendous growth in tourism sector in Bangladesh. The countrys attractions are plentiful, ranging from archaeological sites and historic mosques to beautiful beaches, dense forests, its culture and traditions. Hand in hand with the governments growing attention to tourism, the private sectors role in this development is increasing and Best Western is also playing an important role. Not only do we add new hotels in more destinations, we also bring to the table our global marketing and sales network to benefit Bangladeshs tourism development, said Best Western Internationals Vice President Operations for Asia and the Middle East, Glenn de Souza.

Khulna is the second biggest seaport, located on the banks of the Rupsha and Bhairab rivers and is home to the Khulna Shipyard operated by the Bangladesh navy. The city is a major industrial and commercial centre and, like other big cities in the country, is undergoing a transformation due in part to its fast growing population.
