[HD video below] Indonesia’s national airline, Garuda Indonesia,
will operate a new Boeing 737-800 Next Generation (738NG) aircraft
on the Kuala Lumpur-Jakarta route starting from 15 January 2011.
Featuring the carrier’s ‘Nature’s Wing’ livery, signature interior
and upgraded on-board services, the new aircraft comfortably seats
156 passengers in a two-class configuration.
Compared to the current fleet of aircraft
servicing the route, the new 737-800s will significantly increase
the airline’s capacity by up to 40%. The technologically
advanced 737-800 aircraft also features individual touch-screen LCD
TVs throughout Executive and Economy Classes with Video on Demand
(VOD) entertainment systems offering 25 feature films and 25 audio
tracks.
“We decided to deploy the new aircraft on
this route because of the steady increase in demand experienced
from our customers. Garuda Indonesia’s flights from Kuala Lumpur
to Jakarta are popular with the business and golfing community
because of our convenient flight timings and value added services
which cater to their need for convenience and comfort,” said Erwin
Suharja, General Manager for Malaysia, Garuda Indonesia.
Garuda Indonesia currently offers two flights daily from
Kuala Lumpur to Jakarta. Effective from 15 January 2011,
travellers can easily do a day trip either for business or a round
of golf in many of Jakarta’s scenic courses by taking the 08:00
flight to Jakarta and returning on the 17:10 flight (Jakarta
time). Passengers with golf bags are also entitled to additional
15kg baggage allowance, besides the standard 20kgs. The second
departure from Kuala Lumpur is at 12:45 (KL time) and a return
flight from Jakarta at 08:45 (Jakarta time).
Executive Class passengers can also fast-track their immigration
clearances at the “premium” immigration lanes at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and dedicated immigration counters at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta.
In
celebration of the new aircraft, Garuda Indonesia is offering a
special promotional fare of RM111 return for flights on 15
January. The fares can be purchased from IATA certified agents and
the Garuda Indonesia ticketing office at Ground Floor, Menara
Park, Block D, Megan Avenue II, No. 12 Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, 50450,
Kuala Lumpur.
